The Learning Project is an earnest place, especially around academics. It attempts to do all that it does carefully and thoroughly. It believes that details matter, and it pays close attention to them. Occasionally it drops the ball, and we don’t mind being told when we do because we do not want to drop the same ball twice.

Despite this earnestness, despite the school’s seriousness of purpose, despite the many ways it resembles—and doesn’t—a throw-back to an earlier era, the school is frequently filled with imaginative conversations and creative projects, with collaborative endeavors and playful activity, with whimsy, exuberance and laughter, and with an uncommon spirit that draws many students back to visit long after they have graduated. The enthusiasm and achievement of the children and the strong reputation for excellence that the school enjoys in the broader educational community testify to the success of its academic program.
