An Exciting Announcement from The Learning Project

To Our LP Community,
I am overjoyed to share that, with the opportunities afforded to us by our new building at 263 Clarendon Street, The Learning Project will soon be getting younger. That’s right…just last week, on Wednesday, September 17th, the school’s Board of Trustees voted to establish an LP Pre-Kindergarten program, targeted to launch in the 2028-2029 school year!
As you may recall, The Learning Project acquired the 263 Clarendon Street property back in January 2023. This was a major step in the history of our school, and will allow us to secure a permanent space for our Kindergarten, alongside much needed meeting and office space. The new building has five floors, two of which we expect to use for classroom programming, one for the Kindergarten, one for office space, and one for the new Pre-K.
As was the case back in 2006 when The LP expanded to include Kindergarten for the very first time, our expansion into pre-K is in part driven by changing dynamics in the educational environment in the city. It has become clear that, due to the shifting landscape of early education offerings in Boston, the addition of a 4-year-old program at the school would be not only prudent but necessary in order to remain competitive with our peer schools and to ensure healthy enrollment into the future. While it will be a few years before an LP pre-K is up and running, the Board vote is a momentous one for this school, and we wanted to communicate the news as soon as possible.
We are planning to share additional exciting announcements in the weeks ahead as we finalize a master plan that details improvements to both buildings - the McCord Building at 107 Marlborough and the new building at 263 Clarendon - that will set the school up for continued success for the next 50 years. In addition, be on the lookout for news regarding an upcoming fundraising campaign to help support these renovations for the future of the school. We’re another step closer to realizing our dream at 263 Clarendon, and, as has been the case since our founding at The Learning Project, it will take the heads, hearts and hands of our entire community to make this dream a reality.
Many more inspiring updates to come in the coming weeks, and I hope you will join us for the journey.
Together,
Justin
